PAGES Program

We are a career program designed especially for students majoring in humanities and social science fields – including English, Philosophy, Communication, Journalism, History, Sociology, Anthropology, Political Science, Psychology, Art, Theatre, Music (B.A.) and Integrated Studies.

PAGES helps liberal arts students explore careers, earn skill badges, network with employers, and become a strong job candidate. We help students enhance their college experience through internship and study abroad awards. PAGES is funded by a generous gift from the Seidler family.

PAGES believes the best way to prepare for a career is to make the most of the high-impact educational experiences available to you in college.

At PAGES our goal is to help you prepare for professional life by getting the most out of your education!

PAGES is designed to meet the specific career needs of humanities and social science students: 1) Career Exploration - Liberal Arts majors have a long list of good career paths. We help you find the option that's right for you. 2) Transferable Skills - Liberal arts students excel at skills like critical thinking, writing, speaking and teamwork. We help you apply those skills in workplace contexts:

• Career Programming - workshops, career interest assessments, job search skills, networking with employers, information on good career paths for liberal arts majors
• Skill Badging - Make your college skills visible to and valued by employers by earning skill badges through PAGES.

PAGES works with Southwest Florida employers and Chamber groups to give you access to some of the best job opportunities and internships in our area

• Coffee and Careers – Our mid-day series brings employers to campus to meet with students and introduce their specific career field.  
• Career Fair Tours – A career fair can be a daunting experience. PAGES offers a fun guided activity designed to help you interact successfully with recruiters and find the opportunities open to you!

Yes - really!  Recent studies have shown three things about the career prospects of graduates from humanities and social science programs: 

1. These students take a wide variety of career paths. In an economy where most people can expect to hold multiple jobs in their lifetime, this flexibility is an asset. Take a look at "Where Can I go With a Liberal Arts Major?" above.
2. Students succeed largely based on their “transferable skills” which are highly valued by employers. Liberal arts students show greater achievement in transferable skills.
3. While these students show lower average salaries than professional degree graduates in the first few years after college, they catch up with or exceed that group by mid-career.
