As you prepare for another fabulous semester at FGCU, your Instructional Designers in the Department of Digital Learning want to remind you that your Canvas course can provide critical support and guidance for your students. Even if you are teaching a 100% face-to-face course, students benefit from a robust Canvas course full of important course information, resources, and consistent communications from you. Below are a few of the “must haves” for your Canvas course.

- Welcome posted
- Verification of Attendance Assignment posted
- Introductions
- Attendance
- Assignments
- Readings/resources posted (FGCU Library has tons of cool resources)
- Gradebook viewable and correct
- Use modules for organization
- Save space in your course (video and PPTX)
- Check your Canvas course using the “student view” feature
- Check your Canvas course for accessibility
- Ally Accessibility Software
- Canvas Accessibility checker
- Microsoft accessibility checker (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
- Record and upload your Zoom lectures
- Reset Respondus Lockdown Browser
- If you are now using Respondus Lockdown Browser, you will need to reset this feature if you copy over a course from one semester to another.
- Publish your course
