Johnson Engineering Lobby is where you can find the Construction Management offices as well as the student lounge.

Wright Construction Methods Lab is located behind Holmes Hall and it is used by the Construction Management Program.  

The main office area for the Construction Management faculty and staff.

Owen Ames Kimball Student Lounge area is used by engineering  and construction management students to study, hang out between classes, and have club meetings. FGCU has over ten engineering  and construction management student organizations.

The machine shop is located in this room and provides equipment for student projects. The machine shop is used both by staff and students. Our lab managers and coordinators construct and repair equipment for research and classes. Students undergo safety training and are taught how to work the various pieces of equipment before they can use them for course assignments.

In the Johnson Prewitt & Associates High Bay area, faculty conduct materials research with undergraduate civil engineering students including asphalt, concrete, and other material property tests. Student organizations use the space to construct the concrete canoe, steel bridge, and cardboard boat – all of which compete in annual events locally or regionally each spring.

Zep Construction Suite Teaching Lab "Dirt Lab" is predominately for sophomore and junior civil engineering courses. The fall semester finds students engaged in the civil materials lab in both this room as well as the high bay. During the spring semester the room is shared by a mechanics of materials class that determines fundamental properties of different materials (think of bend, twisting, and breaking things) and geotechnical engineering, which determines properties to classify soil as well as determine how water flows through soil and how soil responds to different loads. Some undergraduate and graduate research is also conducted in this space.

Software Engineering computer lab space.

Located to the right of the elevator this space houses the administrative offices for college, as well as the academic advisors.  

The Hole Montes Lecture Hall is the only lecture hall in the building because the engineering and construction management program focuses on hands-on learning. During the construction of the building, they were required to include at least one lecture style classroom. This room holds 85 students, however, it is generally used by other non-engineering majors.

The Wastewater Microbiology Lab is a space where students primarily cultivate bacteria to isolate its DNA.

Environmental and Water Resources Studio is set up in groups. There are numerous white boards that surround the classroom. The engineering classes are not lecture style. Students can practice the concepts that they learn in class using practice problems and group work to help them process the concepts being taught. The students have the ability to do small labs inside the classroom. This type of classroom is also available on the first and fourth floor.

This area is used by students and faculty members to review concepts taught in class. The study areas are located on both ends of the second floor and have white boards for students to use.  

Rooms 307-324 are some of the faculty offices. Outside the suite there is a directory that shows the faculty members and their office location.  

The Design Studio has a focus on team-oriented learning and is used by the construction management and engineering faculty members. 

Software Engineering computer lab space.

The analytical and instrumentation lab space is used for laboratory research and development projects involving the implementation of electrical and electronic instrumentation, sensor development, electrochemical studies, and signal acquisition and analysis. It has a soldering and metal wire welder station, three National Instruments ELVIS stations for prototyping electrical/electronic circuits, a PXIe computer station with a fast 16-channel acquisition card and digital multimeter, a pico-ammeter and an electrometer, a four channel analog oscilloscope, a mixed-domain oscilloscope with both analog and digital inputs and built-in function generator and spectrum analyzer, an Atmel microcontroller programming kit, a UV-VIS spectrophotometer, two electrochemical workstations, precision electronic components, a micro scale and a fume hood. The main focus of recent work has been on electrochemical sensing specifically with respect to the development of a semiconductor-based sensor for detection of organic compounds in air and water. 

This lab space is used for cellular and tissue engineering laboratory research and development projects. Primary equipment includes CO2 incubators, a Class II biosafety cabinet, fume hood, analytical balance, Flexcell tension system to apply deformation to cells in culture, inverted light microscope, a Bio-Rad ChemiDoc XRS+ Imager and an Olympus Fluoview 1000 confocal microscope. Activities include student research projects such as biomaterial scaffold fabrication and cellular mechanotransduction. Studies typically utilize biochemical assays to detect and quantify cellular processes and metabolic reactions.

The Arthrex Biomechatronix Research Lab is used for biomechanics as well as mechanical, prosthetics, and assistive devices research and development projects. The primary equipment in this lab includes an 8-camera Qualisys motion capture system with AMTI force plates that are able to record the position of passive reflective markers in the room in 3D to an accuracy of approximately 1mm. There are 3D printers and CNC engraving machines in the lab, which are used for fabrication of both class and research project prototypes. The various devices and projects in the room are typically associated with student’s class and research projects, most of which are ongoing with 1-3 students working on a project at any given time throughout the semester.

Biomechatronic Studio lab space is used for cell culture as well as mechanical testing of materials associated teaching laboratory skills and training students for research projects. Primary equipment includes CO2 incubators, multiple Class II biosafety cabinets, analytical balances, inverted and upright fluorescence microscopes, multi-mode plate reader for UV-Vis absorbance and filter-based fluorescence and luminescence, and two Instron materials testing machines.

This is the main bioengineering classroom for junior and senior courses with a capacity for 48 students. It is designed for class lectures as well as lab practices in accordance to the lecture-lab approach of the bioengineering department. As a classroom, it contains 8 large double-sided bench-type tables, each accommodating 6 students, and it is equipped with three full length white boards, two projection screens, two cameras for lecture video capture, and 36 desktop computers for student use. Laboratory practices are carried out in the room for the human physiology courses, the courses of the electrical sequence, and the biomaterials courses. Equipment available for the lab practices includes 16 electrical equipment stations, each having power supply, function generator, oscilloscope, and National Instruments ELVIS II system. Equipment also includes 12 Fluke vital sign patient simulators, 12 NI portable data acquisition units, and 16 iWorx sets for acquisition and analysis of physiological signals/parameters. Additional equipment includes Arduino programming kits, multimeters, breadboards, and various electrical and electronic components.

At the end of the hallway, there are whiteboards available for students to use, the goal is to work out solutions and have faculty nearby that can provide assistance. This type of space is present on the 2^nd, 3^rd, and 4^th floors.

Software Engineering computer lab space.

The VIPER Lab is dedicated to virtual reality and its different applications. The lab has a variety of equipment available for student use such as Oculus rifts. The lab uses game engines, like Unity and Unreal, to develop different simulations. The lab provides a low code environment for its projects therefore, the lab is used by all the engineering disciplines. The lab also aids with the construction management program to visualize the interior of buildings.

Robotics/Software Engineering lab space is used by software engineers to design and program various machines for their senior projects.

The Environmental Engineering studio classroom is a chemistry lab where students participate in experiments related to environmental engineering which include topics on total suspended solids, water samples, and analysis.

Students perform procedures such as ion chromatography, high performance liquid chromatography, and gas chromatography.
