About the Honors College

 Mission

The Honors College is a community of dedicated and diverse students, faculty and staff. We pursue excellence through scholarly advancement, community engagement, leadership development, and cultural enrichment. Our students seek profound personal transformation through intentional and impactful experiences.

Elements of Honors

The Elements of Honors are the values and practices that guide our community of learners. The Honors College's curricula, experiences, individual courses and events are designed to introduce students to each of the elements and provide the guidance and resources for students to develop within the elements that match their academic, personal and career interests.

Curricula

The Honors College does not believe in a "one-size-fits-all" approach to education.

Whether you are a First-Time-In-College student, a transfer student or a current FGCU student, there is a place for you at the Honors College. Our three paths are designed to accommodate differing credit hours at time of entrance into the Honors College.

Is the FGCU Honors College an honors society?

No, the FGCU Honors College is an official academic College at Florida Gulf Coast University, with courses, curriculum and faculty all integrated with FGCU. The FGCU Honors College is not an honors society.

Students are frequently offered membership in a wide array of honors societies, but are often concerned about their value and legitimacy. In general, the honors societies that have a chapter on campus are honors you can proudly place on your resume.

The oldest honors society in America, Phi Kappa Phi, has a chapter at Florida Gulf Coast University.
