Whether you are an incoming freshman, a current student or a transfer student, we welcome you to join our community of dedicated and high-achieving students.

Admission to the Honors College is by invitation only. Incoming new freshmen and transfer students are eligible to apply for admission. Current FGCU students are considered for eligibility to apply based on their cumulative Institutional GPA and earned credit hours prior to invitation. Details on the criteria and application process are summarized below.

First Time In College (FTIC) Students

Standards

Admissions are based on standardized test scores and high school GPA. However, they are not the sole determining factors for admission.

Going Beyond

The Honors College enrolls motivated and talented students who embrace the mission and vision of the college, and utilize opportunities specific to honors students.

Eligibility Requiirements (FTIC)

  • 3.7 weighted high school GPA
  • A minimum SAT score of 1220
  • A minimum ACT score of 25 
  • A carefully written, and thoughtful application

Note: Students starting in Spring of an academic year are not eligible for FTIC admission. Please see information for current students below.

Current FGCU Students

Invitation

Current students are invited to apply every fall and spring semester. Invitation are sent to their Eagle E-mail from honors@fgcu.edu. 

Timeline

Students are invited early in the semester (Fall: August, and Spring: January). Once a student accepts their invitation, they complete their application. Applications are reviewed and qualifying applicants are invited for an interview. Admissions are finalized in October (Fall) or March (Spring). 

Eligibility Requirements (Current)

  • 3.5 Institutional (FGCU) GPA
  • 12 - 75 credit hours earned at FGCU
  • Students with two majors are permitted up to 90 credit hours
  • A carefully written, and thoughtful application

Transfer Students

Invitation

Transfer students are invited to apply during their first semester at FGCU. Invitation are sent to their Eagle E-mail from honors@fgcu.edu. 

Timeline

Students are invited early in the semester (Fall: August, and Spring: January). Once a student accepts their invitation, they complete their application. Applications are reviewed and qualifying applicants are invited for an interview. Admissions are finalized in October (Fall) or March (Spring). 

Transfer students are invited to apply during their first semester if the have,

  • A minimum transfer GPA of 3.5
  • 12 - 75 earned credits hours from their transfer institution

Note: Students transferring from Florida SouthWestern State College (FSW) and Dr. Lydia R. Daniel Honors Program at Hillsborough Community College are invited through a transfer agreement (please see below).

FSW (Direct)

Students are invited to apply if,

  • they contact the college at least 14 days prior to the start of their first semester expressing their intent to joint
  • they have earned an Honors Certificate from the Honors Scholar Program at FSW

DHP (Direct)

Students are invited to apply if,

  • they contact the college at least 14 days prior to the start of their first semester expressing their intent to joint
  • they completed the full honors curriculum at Hillsborough Community College
