Entrepreneurship Living Learning Community

Students will represent majors from across the university (as well as “undeclared” given that these students will be in their first year). Faculty leaders and mentors will represent multiple colleges and departments.

Accepted students will have two required cohort courses in the fall semester: IDS 2930 (1 credit, General Elective) Interdisciplinary Studies and ENT 2000 (3 credits, General Education Social Science), Introduction to Entrepreneurship. The IDS course, which will be taught by the lead faculty member, will serve as the designated LLC “common hour” where students will explore a wide range of topics related to entrepreneurship and professional development. They will enroll in the same course in the spring term (the content will be different).

Students will engage in a semester-long service-learning project through the IDS course, and they will participate in the CEO Club Student Chapter, which will expose them to campus and community entrepreneurial initiatives, speakers, experts, etc.

Students will be paired with peer and near-peer mentors that will likely have participated in a previous Entrepreneurship LLC and/or the ongoing Runway Project. Students also will have a community mentor who will serve as a link to local community entrepreneurial activities. Lastly, students will haveFGCU faculty mentors. This constellation of mentors will ensure students’ success as entrepreneurs, regardless of major.
